RETA Mühendislik manages the design, production, and installation of industrial rack systems for production facilities, spare parts warehouses, and distribution depots in Konya under a single responsibility. Established in 1979, the company manufactures its systems in its own production facility in Manisa Muradiye OSB and provides services through its shipping and installation organization on the Central Anatolian line.

Production Sectors Determining Storage Needs in Konya

Konya's industry has a structure where a large number of small and medium-sized part manufacturers work in the same ecosystem, accompanied by agricultural processing.

Automotive spare parts, agricultural machinery, foundry, and machinery manufacturing are concentrated around the Konya Organized Industrial Zone. Stock in these facilities consists of thousands of items; different models and sizes of the same part are kept together. The determining factor is not the total volume, but error-free access to the correct reference, which necessitates an addressable and box-based organization.

Büsan Organized Industrial Zone and surrounding industrial estates operate on a different scale. Here, units are small, ceiling heights are limited, and maneuvering space is narrow. The storage space must be solved without taking away from the production area, and the solution lies in vertical utilization.

The picture changes again in food, flour, pulses, and sugar products facilities along the Konya Ereğli, Çumra, and Karatay line. Sack and big bag storage is common, and concentration due to the harvest period creates occupancy differences throughout the year. Facilities manufacturing cables, plastics, and footwear, along with logistics warehouses arising from the province's position as a regional distribution hub, form the fourth pillar of the province.

Access Order in Multi-Item Spare Parts Stock

The common problem for part manufacturers and spare parts warehouses in Konya is not warehouse space, but the number of references. Time lost in a warehouse with thousands of items is much more costly than rack capacity.

The layout is therefore built on access. Bins are arranged in a numbered and addressable order, and grouping is defined from the start to prevent parts that look similar but have different dimensions from being placed side by side. High-turnover references are positioned in the band where the operator can reach without bending or using ladders, while low-turnover stock is moved to the upper levels. Labeling surface and reading angle are determined during the design phase, as solutions added later often slow down the operator.

Although Konya is located in a region with relatively low spectral acceleration values in the earthquake regulations, the anchoring and bracing layout is still calculated based on the carried load and rack height. Static calculations are performed separately for each project; quotes are not given based on catalog capacities.

Prominent Systems on the Konya OSB and Büsan Line

In spare parts warehouses and facilities managing multi-item stock, box and carton handling shelving systems are used. Shelf heights are adjusted according to the part box and the operator's access level, bins are arranged in an addressable order, and high-turnover references are placed in the waist-level band.

In narrow units in Büsan and industrial estates, mezzanine racking systems double or triple the available area. The solution that expands the warehouse volume without narrowing the production area is often the only realistic option in these facilities.

In finished goods warehouses of food, flour, and pulses facilities as well as machinery manufacturers, pallet racking systems are designed according to pallet size, forklift type, and clear height. Euro pallet 800x1200 mm and industrial pallet 1000x1200 mm sizes require different bin depths and beam spans; in non-standard loads such as sacks and big bags, bin dimensions are designed according to the product.

In foundry and metalworking facilities, long materials such as profiles, pipes, and sheets are managed with cantilever systems, mold management with mold racking systems, and warehouses with high stock turnover speeds with automated storage AS/RS solutions. All system types are available on the racking systems page.

Konya Warehouse Racking Systems Discovery and Quote Process

Application Steps from Measurement to Installation

During the discovery phase, floor condition and flatness, column axes, clear ceiling height, sprinkler and lighting layout, type of forklift or pallet truck used, and pallet and box dimensions are recorded. In multi-item warehouses, the number of references, part size ranges, and turnover speeds are also taken at this stage, because bin grouping is directly derived from this data.

After the capacity calculation, static calculation, and technical drawing are approved, production is carried out at the facility in Muradiye OSB. Since shipping is done from outside the region, production, transportation, and installation team planning are merged into a single schedule. Installation is carried out by our own teams; component lengths are planned according to door and maneuvering constraints in narrow units in industrial estates. Load capacity labels and user instructions are left upon delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Konya Racking Systems

What kind of layout is set up for a spare parts warehouse with thousands of items?

Bins are numbered in an addressable layout, and parts that look similar but have different sizes are grouped separately. High-turnover references are placed in the band that the operator can easily reach, while low-turnover stock is placed on the upper levels. The label surface and reading angle are determined during the design phase.

Can installation be done in a narrow unit in an industrial estate?

Yes, it can. The limiting factor is usually not the internal space, but getting the material inside. Door width, ceiling height, and maneuvering space are measured during discovery, and component lengths are planned according to these constraints.

Our ceiling height is low, can we still increase capacity?

Yes, it can be increased. If it is not possible to increase the number of levels, aisle widths are re-evaluated according to the equipment used, and bin depths are optimized according to the load type. If there is suitable height, the mezzanine solution gains volume without expanding the floor area.

What points are considered in flour, pulses, and sack storage?

Since the center of gravity can shift in these loads, the support surface and beam span are calculated accordingly. Moisture and hygiene conditions affect material selection, and the rack layout is planned in a way that does not block air circulation.

What information do we need to provide before a quote?

Warehouse area and clear ceiling height, the type and unit weight of the load to be stored, the number of references or targeted number of bins, the type of forklift or pallet truck used, and the existing layout plan, if any, are sufficient. The final quote is formed after discovery and static calculations.
