RETA Mühendislik undertakes the design, production, and installation of industrial rack systems under a single responsibility for bonded warehouses, production facilities, and distribution warehouses in Mersin. Founded in 1979, the company manufactures its systems in its own production facility in Manisa Muradiye OIZ and provides services to the Mediterranean line through shipment and installation organization.

Port Economy Determining the Warehousing Need in Mersin

Most of the demand for warehouses in Mersin arises from trade flow rather than production, and this situation distinguishes the province from other industrial centers.

In the bonded warehouses around Mersin Port and the facilities in Mersin Free Zone, stock does not stay to remain for a long time, but to await the customs and shipping process. What is decisive here is not the total capacity, but how fast a container can be unloaded and reloaded. Since the arrival and departure directions of the load can be different, the layout cannot be established according to a one-way flow.

Facilities producing food, packaging, plastics, and machinery are located around Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone and Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone. In these facilities, raw materials and finished product stocks are managed under the same roof, and different load types must be resolved in a single layout plan.

Conditions change in agricultural processing facilities and citrus and vegetable packaging centers on the Tarsus and Erdemli line. Concentration depending on the harvest period, cold chain requirements, and hygiene rules affect both material selection and rack arrangement. A similar seasonality applies to packaging facilities on the Silifke and Anamur line.

Layout According to Inbound and Outbound Flow in Transit Cargo

In bonded and free zone warehouses, the layout is established with a different logic than in production facilities. Material often enters in batches and leaves piecemeal at different times and to different buyers. In this setup, an incorrectly planned aisle costs much more time than capacity.

In design, the position of the entry and exit gates is the starting point. Axes close to the unloading area are reserved for fast-moving batches, while the rear area is reserved for long-term stock awaiting customs or shipment. If cargo belonging to the same customer or the same declaration needs to be physically kept together, this separation is reflected in the bay groups from the beginning. To prevent different batches from mixing, the bays are numbered in an addressable order.

Mersin is located in a region with spectral acceleration values that must be considered in seismic regulations. Upright sections, anchoring details, and diagonal patterns are dimensioned according to these parameters. Static calculations are made separately for each project; quotes are not given based on catalog capacity.

Prominent Systems in the Free Zone and Tarsus Line

In bonded warehouses, free zone warehouses, and finished product warehouses of production facilities, pallet racking systems are designed according to pallet size, forklift type, and free height. Euro pallet 800x1200 mm and industrial pallet 1000x1200 mm sizes require different bay depths and beam spans; the number of levels is determined according to the ceiling height and sprinkler layout.

In transit cargos where piecemeal dispatch is made and in warehouses where order picking is dominant, box carton handling racking systems are used. Shelf heights are adjusted according to the operator's access level, high-speed batches are taken to the fast access belt, and bays are arranged in an addressable order.

In warehouses where the ceiling height cannot be utilized, mezzanine racking systems increase the existing area to two or three floors. For businesses using rented warehouses, this is often the solution that gains volume without going into building investment.

In facilities manufacturing metal and machinery, long materials such as profiles, pipes, and sheets are managed with cantilever systems; in plastic and packaging manufacturers, mold management is handled with mold racking systems, while warehouses with high stock turnover speeds are managed with automatic storage AS/RS solutions. All system types are available on the racking systems page.

Application Steps from Measurement to Commissioning

During the discovery, floor condition and flatness, column axes, free ceiling height, sprinkler and lighting layout, forklift type used, and pallet sizes are recorded. In bonded and free zone warehouses, the location of entry and exit gates and daily container traffic are also recorded, because the aisle direction and bay grouping are directly determined according to this flow.

After capacity calculation, static calculation, and technical drawing approval, production is carried out at the facility in Muradiye OIZ. Since shipment is made from outside the region, production, shipping, and installation team planning are combined in a single schedule. Installation is carried out by our own teams; since the warehouse can be worked by dividing it into phases, installation can be completed in customs areas without stopping operations. At delivery, load capacity labels and instructions for use are left. Scope; includes expanding existing systems, moving them to another facility, and replacing damaged components.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Mersin Racking Systems

Can installation be carried out in a bonded warehouse without stopping operations?

Yes, it can. The warehouse is worked by dividing it into phases, and the schedule is set up according to daily container traffic. First, the empty section is commissioned, stock is moved gradually, and then installation continues in the vacated area.

Can a system be set up to keep cargos belonging to different customers separate?

Yes, it can. Bay groups can be separated on a customer, batch, or declaration basis, and bays are numbered in an addressable order. Label surface and reading angle are determined during the design phase, thus speeding up counting and control processes.

Can the system we use in a rented warehouse be moved later?

Yes, it can. The system can be planned to be dismantled and reinstalled. If the floor strength, ceiling height, and column axes of the new facility are different, reinforcement or partial renewal may be required; this evaluation is made with a discovery before moving.

What information should I prepare to get a quote?

Warehouse area and free ceiling height, pallet size and weight per pallet, targeted number of bays, forklift type used, and existing layout plan, if any, are sufficient. The final quote is formed after discovery and static calculation.

Can a system be set up for warehouses operating in cold storage conditions?

Yes, it can. Temperature, humidity, and hygiene conditions affect the material and surface selection, and the rack arrangement is planned so as not to prevent air circulation. Conditions are recorded during discovery.
